Nixie Tubes and Magic Eye Tubes

This is a preliminary page for pointing to various things concerning my interest in Nixie Tubes and Magic Eye tubes. Not yet very pretty or complete. If you have any questions or information, or if you wish to sell or trade tubes, feel free to contact me at nixie@bigshed.com.

My Projects

Obviously, I'm still very much a beginner. But here's what I've been working on so far.

Other Links

Here are links to other nixie related sites. They variously have useful info, parts or kits for sale, and/or are run by folks who I've had particularly good interactions with:

My Tubes

I don't have pictures for most things yet and counts are only approximate. But here is a fairly complete list of my Nixie and Eye tubes.

Counts are approximate. Nixie style is digits unless otherwise stated.

Japanese Tubes

Japan had (of course) their own unique take on Nixies and Eye tubes. Some notes here. Also my Nixie Wishlist and EyeTube Wishlist.

Japan Nixies

Here is a Japanese nixie data sheet page containing basic specifications and descriptions of Japanese nixies.

Giant Nixies

Here are a few links to pictures of some of the large Japanese nixie tubes (these are also obviously on my wish list. See below...):

My Japanese Nixie Wishlist

These are tubes that I'm particularly interested in buying (or even get nice pictures of)
And this list is really one that Alan J. Franzman sent to me. I'd like to acquire these for him, but they're not high on my personal list:

Tube Date Label Information

From a posting by Alan J. Franzman

A = 1966
B = 1967
C = 1968
D = 1969
E = 1970
F = 1971
G = 1972
H = 1973
I = 1974
J = 1975
K = 1976
L = 1977
M = 1978
N = 1979
O = 1980
P = 1981
Q = 1982
R = 1983
S = 1984
T = 1985

etc.

No surprise, since ISE was founded in 1966.  The second letter is no
doubt the week; A = 1st, Z = 51st.  Many don't have a third letter,
and on the ones that do it's often a "B". (= ??)

The current Noritake website can be found here, BTW:

Japanese Magic Eye Tubes

Almost all I have found about Japanese Magic Eye Tubes is from Koji Hayashi's very fine Magic Eye page. I'd be delighted to buy or trade for almost any tube on this page, but I'll list my favorites below.

Japanese Eye Tube Wishlist

My understanding is that these are all quite rare and/or expensive.
